Brighton Township manages tax collection to fund essential community services, including police, fire, emergency services, road maintenance, parks, and recreation. Real Estate Taxes

  • Millage Rates:
    • Township: 2.25 mills
    • Beaver County: 3.67 mills
    • Beaver Area School District: 12.99 mills
    • Each mill represents $1.00 in real estate taxes per $1,000 of assessed property value.

    • Note:  Real Estate Tax bills are mailed to each property owner. The resident is responsible for the taxes due and each resident who has a mortgage can forward their real estate tax bill to their current lender.

Earned Income Tax (EIT)

  • Rate: 1% total, split equally between Brighton Township and the Beaver Area School District (0.5% each).

  • Employer Responsibilities: Employers within Brighton Township, or Pennsylvania employers of township residents, must withhold the EIT from wages and file quarterly returns on April 30, July 31, October 31, and January 31 of the following year. Employees must complete a Residency Certification Form to confirm their PSD code and tax rate.
  • Individual Filing: Residents with earned income not subject to withholding must file quarterly returns and pay the tax directly to Berkheimer on the same schedule. If you are self-employed, work out of state or are a federal employee, local earned income tax is not deducted from your pay by your employer, so you are required to pay the tax quarterly or be subject to additional penalty, interest, and costs.

    • Details: This tax applies to residents aged 18 and older. Bills are mailed annually, typically in July, combined with Beaver Area School District. The total tax is $15 with $5 going to Brighton Township and $10 going to Beaver Area School District.

Local Services Tax (LST)

  • Purpose: Funds police, fire, emergency services, road construction, maintenance, and property tax reduction. The tax of $52 is divided as follows: $47 to Brighton Township and $5 to the Beaver Area School District.
