Brighton Township is a safe place in which to live and raise a family. Residents enjoy the peace of mind that comes with having a full-time police department, low crime rate, experienced fire department with top notch equipment, three fire stations and state certified first response medical personnel.

 

 

POLICE

Located at 1300 Brighton Road in the Municipal Building, the township police department consists of 14 officers: Chief of Police Howard Blinn, Captain Peter Benedict, two Sergeants, one Corporal, one full time and eight part time patrolmen.  The Department provides 24-hour patrol coverage with a minimum of two officers per shift. All non-emergency calls to the department should be directed through the Emergency Services Center Dispatch in Beaver at 724-774-1789. All emergency calls are directed to 911.

 

 

CRIME WATCH

Brighton Township Police are available to attend community or neighborhood meetings to discuss the establishment of a formal Crime Watch Program or to address a specific area of crime prevention. D.A.R.E. (DRUG ABUSE RESISTANCE EDUCATION)

D.A.R.E. is a nationally recognized program that gives children the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs and violence. D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teach children how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives. Brighton Township Police Sergeant Peter Benedict is a certified D.A.R.E. training officer and teaches the curriculum at the Dutch Ridge Elementary School.

HOUSE WATCH

If you are going to be away from your home for a period of time, the police department will make periodic checks on your residence while you are away. Prior to leaving, phone the department at 724-728-1134 with departure and return dates

 

 

FIRE FIGHTING

The Brighton Township Volunteer Fire Department (BTVFD) has three fire stations, No. 1 located on Dutch Ridge Road, No. 2 on Tuscarawas Road, and No. 3 on Grange Road. The department also has a Firemen’s Social Hall used for community events and conducts fish fries there to raise funds for the Department. Training is conducted every Monday evening at Station No. 3.
